I have come across stories where the fuses / connections have corroded / melted in the fuse box on the battery.

I would be looking beyond the fan / motor and looking at the wiring / integrity of said fuse box, remove fuses and check for any anomalies, you can see in the above picture that the cooling fans connection doesn't look great and that is a common theme I have seen.

 

Does the left hand fan work if you attach a direct 12v feed and assume you mean the fuse box sat on top of the battery? If so and all the fuses etc.. in the fuse box (I thought it was a 40a fuse and not a 50a but could be getting my wires crossed here!) then check the thermo switch on the bottom left of the radiator, should be able to bridge the pins to trigger the fan.
