As some of you may know I recently bought another Golf VR6 from an advert headed 'VR6 disposal Essex' on here, from a very nice chap called Nigel.

It turns out Nigel had owned the car for 16 years and the only previous owner was a friend of his. Apart from a couple of photos that was all I knew about the car.

So I took the plunge sent a buddy of mine with a recovery truck over to Billericay to 'rescue' it.

Worst case if it's a basket case me and@bealieboy currently own a Mk3 van and would have been able to make use of the running gear.

Then this turned up. ImageUploadedByThe VR6 Owners Club1467927182.061900.jpg

Nigel had very kindly charged the battery for me and it drove off the recovery truck, happy days! It was a good start!

After having a poke around I realised that this was not a bad car at all with 117k on the clocks though it has been sitting for over a year,

One of the most amazing things is that this is the worst bit of rust on the front wings!!ImageUploadedByThe VR6 Owners Club1467927453.049418.jpg

When I got a chance I put the car up in the air to see if the underneath was as solid as the top half and to my surprise it is!! and no oil leaks?ImageUploadedByThe VR6 Owners Club1467927541.490781.jpg With just a bit of a tidy up and reseal of the front jacking points needed! ImageUploadedByThe VR6 Owners Club1467927609.691787.jpg I wish my red one was this good underneath!!

So I treated it to a decent wash which I reckon was the first one for quite a while 578023bc9958b_ImageUploadedByTheVR6Owner

Really good, I might just clean up and reseal the front jacking points as they're just a tiny bit scabby, I wish my red one was this clean and solid when I got it!

Been trying to get somewhere with this, as people keep pestering me to buy it!

Got it serviced and the plugs changed, they looked like they'd been in the a while!IMG_1470002669.375443.jpg
Removed a few bits of trim including the rear spoiler to make a nicer job of claying and machine polishing;IMG_1470002990.552148.jpg
Whilst it was off used an old trick with a hot air gun to bring it back to life, before;IMG_1470002836.241366.jpg
Then half way through;IMG_1470002866.606649.jpg
Then broke the mop out to see how it was going to come up, IMG_1470002919.233123.jpg
Quite nice was the answer to that! Love mystic blue!
This believe it or not was all of the rust on one of the ORIGINAL! front wings!!! I kid you not! IMG_1470003108.578608.jpg

I'm now the new owner of this beast happy to own a Vr again even though my wife cannot work out why I would leave my clk on the drive and put my Vr in the garage needs a small bit of bodywork doing to it which I hope Ben will do when he has time and plan my attack over the winter for next season to bring it out IMG_1473690670.464484.jpg.eb366c6ad045d6IMG_1473690686.429042.jpg.cf83ccd608a8eaIMG_1473690697.763441.jpg.6aca576c4ac79a

Thanks it is s good car very solid was surprised my self it does require a bit of welding in 2 places just a small section behind drivers side rear wheel and one rear floor Bung has gone it did look mint but me being me power washed it cleaning the underneath and carpet felt wet and power wash had blown the grommet through so have a fist hole but for what I paid for it I'm not bothered just get Ben to weld it and reseal and it will be like new so not bad considering
