Golf VR6 1997, 106K, Southampton, £300 ONO, Urgent

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

For sale is my dragon green 1997 Golf VR6. Unfortunately due to an imminent house move, and a couple of lax buyers, the car has to go ASAP as it's currently SORN and sat on my drive. Priced to sell as I need it gone! The plan was always to fix it up but unfortunately that time has passed. I've owned the car since 2010 and had some great times in it so I'm really hoping someone will grab it, even if it's just stripped for parts. I shall have to scrap it come mid-July, so please rescue it!

I'm home from 6PM so come take a look after then.  £300 ONO.

Bad points:

 - Needs a new radiator

 - Rear shocks are tired

 - Some rust on chassis, wheel arches, subframe etc, to be expected from a car of that age.

 - Laquer peeling from bonnet

 - Rattle in the steering column, been there since I purchased the car.

 - Plastics missing from engine bay

 - ABS light on - (IIRC Vag-Com said it was an out of spec signal from the front n/s sensor)

Good points

 - Starts and runs fine, clean engine with 5k oil changes, no smoke etc.

 - LPG conversion, though after being sat will need a service

 - Before SORN brake hard lines were replaced, along with pads, discs, rear wheel bearings. Rear caliper sliders greased etc.

 - Before SORN the water pump, thermostat, thermostat housing & crack pipe replaced

 - New starter motor before SORN
 - Only ~8k  done on the Falken Ziex tyres, plenty of life left

 - Assortment of service parts (Air / fuel / oil filter, brake pads, old HT leads) which I have lying about

- Cabin electrics / windows / roof / lights all work fine

Pictures to follow!
