Project patchwork; 95 Golf VR6

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I thought I should start a build thread on here to show my cars progress (or lack of it) time will tell!

I bought the it 6 years ago of a friend for £350 with 200K on the clock.

Surprisingly it had a full service history and lots of receipts of all the work that had been carried out ;)

The bodywork was in reasonable condition apart form some rusting sills.

25K miles later its starting to show it age. The engine is smoking/burning oil, the suspension knocks and feels tired & the body/paintwork is shot.

This is how it looks currently :(

Just need to find a place to store my other project so I can start getting some work done!

Hopefully I'll be able to start making some progress next month.

Also I hope the pictures show up as I'm pretty much computer illiterate!

Hi mate, looks tidy enough, what plans have you got for it? Bought it for nearly the same price as I bought mine for!emoji6.pngemoji51.png

It is tidy as long as your stood 1/2 a mile away :D

The plan is to have the engine rebuilt keeping it N/A but trying to up the HP to 200+ with some help form TSR Performance.

Give the suspension an overhaul polybushing everything and fitting some sports suspension rather than coilovers.

Freshen up the engine bay.

Get any parts I can replaced, refurbished, painted or powder coated.

and then the body work :o eliminate the rusted areas with new metal and I'll be happy, not worried about the paintwork.

So enough to keep me busy and also broke for the foreseeable future

My uncle had an MG B GT.
