Supercharged Mk3 Golf VR6

Recommended Posts

Swapped my old bora for this a few years ago.

How it looked when I got it.

The green had to go.

Then I tried some new wheels which didn't last long.

Added some reclining buckets and took the rear interior out

Painted the steels white

Stayed like that for quite a while then added a vento front (which I've always wanted)

Winter wheels on. Didn't really rate them.

Fitted a Vento Splitter and a brake upgrade somewhere along the line

Tried some tsw venoms and got a phase 2 veto grille. Venoms didn't work imo.

Took it out on track at Players Classic, was so much fun.

Had to change Heater Matrix and stripped out Air con along with a few other bits I can't rememeber.

Not a fun job.

Then some more time passed, some more wheels and it now looks like this.

Vortech V1. I had been thinking about it for a while, it was either that or air ride. Took the drive unto collect and bearings seemed fine so I handed over the cash and came home. started ordering parts and test fitted it in the bay.

This is pretty much up to date.

The (almost)in the title is due to a few running problems. have been speaking a lot to Pete who has been very very helpful and am trying to sort out why it wouldn't idle.

I moved my MAF further away.

Latest is that it will idle with the old ECU chip and will idle with the new chip when warm. Car is now cooling to try it again.

Getting there buddy,

Should be two types of idea pulleys you could make, the Z-engineering type, which I have seen a few vortex users change to.

Why lots of the z-enginneering chargers are missing idel brakets and pulleys, as people swap them on to different chargers.

Or the standard vortex idel pulley, I'd always go for the dual pulley set up, as it tensiones much better than a single pulley tensioner.

  • 2 months later...

Been a while. Car is up and running nicely and parts for Stage 2 have been identified.

I bought some track/drag/winter wheels to replace the banded steels as the offset and width of those makes them unfriendly for decent size track tyres.

Picked these up for hopefully less than I can get for the steels

Also bought a heckblende, always liked them and found one reasonably locally. And added a 'supercharged' sticker to decide if I like it before buying a proper badge. (Ignore the bumper damage, I still need to sort this)

I think the badge / sticker looks good man.

I know a company

Who make very good reproductions of the supercharger badge.... Trimsport.

They also make different size badges.

http://trimsport.bigcartel.com/category/oem-quality-badges?page=1

Cheaper then buying a genuine one, and most people would never tell.

Liking the heckblende too!!

need some help mate im putting my vortech v2 on my vr6 soon and its stage one

you dont happen to know the diameter size of the intake hoses do u as need to buy some silicone hoses

Assuming its the same as s V1 charger I used a 90mm to 76mm for charger intake. Although the maf is around 80mm but it does stretch on.

Then for charger to tb I used a 72mm to 76mm 45 degree reducer then a 76mm 90 degree elbow to the tb. Hope that makes sense. Drop me a pm if you want mate

yes it does mate thansk bro its a vortech v1 with upgraded internals to a v2

sorry last question did you run a recirc dump valve

No worries. Pics above probably help. Mught be easier to go 90mm>80mm maf side.

I run a recirc valve. It's not an atmospheric so recircs everything.
