drnick 0
is it possible to fit a vr6 in to a mk2 golf syncro (the 4x4 jobbie?) has anyone seen it been done before? know any details or any web sites? i think this could be quite fun even with a standard vr lump in it! badboyV6 4
yeah ive seen it before - ive got a feature of one in an old PVW/golfmag from a year or two ago..... lot of work on this one though as it was a std GTI before it was turned into this monster- it was jazz blue..... absolutely spotless too... uber-tub 0
not really a plan to put a VR into a Syncro... not the strongest transmission in the world and aren't they all 5 doors? Better finding a G60 Syncro witha knackered motor as these are three doors and have the running gear from the Rallye.
VRmonster 1
the shell is a good base, as you can get the vr syncro drivetrain and fit that instead, but if thats the plan id rather go with the g60 too, and just change the bellhousing on the g60 box to fit the VR. markiev6 1
ive built a golf mk2 4x4 vr6 turbo it started life as a fwd 1.8 8v its a lot of work but it only took 6 months over the winter in my garage. i have used all vr6 running gear cos its stronger than rallye stuff.ill post some pics later !! johnemerson38 1
so what bhp do you think a mk3 syncro can handle
just2zang 0
my syncro is LHD but three door, u have to convert the drivetrain. Dutchdub gives some info on converting g60 as its got the wider transmission tunnel just needs some brackets. Its possible to fit haldex with a modified rear diff, but the wiring should be a good laugh! A lot of info on vwvortex, some at dutchdub and some on vwsyncro. Loads of reading and customisation. Dubsingh 0
we should try and set up a parts section for this...i got a rallye with a vr6 SC :-P but need to sort my drivetrain
markiev6 1
well im runing over 500 bhp on my vr6t syncro but i dont think its gonna last long !!!!!
johnemerson38 1
so what can you do to make it last longer have in treated or something
markiev6 1
no there is nothing you can do if you want to keep it vr6 running gear. no one makes any stronger parts for the vr6 rear diff that would help. ive been told it should be ok for about 340bhp. you could use a heldex rear diff and a gearbox transfur box to suit. but mine seems to be coping at the mo and that 500+ so will have to wait and see!!! johnemerson38 1
so how easy is it to fit the heldex system to a mk3 syncro i thought the heldex was more computerized than mechanical so would i have to mess around with that aswell also how much bhp can it handle
markiev6 1
you can not use a heldex diff on a mk3 gear box you would have to use a mk4 or i think an audi tt box may be golf rallye but not sure but a heldex system can almost handle any thing! mate of mine is running 650bhp on one !! johnemerson38 1
so what about putting in a r32 box aswell on to a vr6 12v would it mate up

badboyV6 4
you can not use a heldex diff on a mk3 gear box you would have to use a mk4 or i think an audi tt box may be golf rallye but not sure but a heldex system can almost handle any thing! mate of mine is running 650bhp on one !! You can use a haldex diff albeit you need the sensors to make it work. Unless you use a permanent fixed bias controller. PSITuning were looking into this for me but i havent gone back to them yet...
