Paular 112
I have a VR in the MK2 which has an induction cone which sits behind the drivers side headlight. The inlet tube had a `Stroeve` tag on it but the cone looks a bit tired. So I was thinking of changing the cone to freshen up the engine bay but would also love something that sounds a bit more lairy with more induction roar. What do you guys recommend, links would be good, the louder the better just plan to change the cone for now. cheersPaul

Swivelonit 119
I have a cone on my VR and it makes no noise! Might be because it is turbo'd. My Lads Lupo has a BMC on it and that sounds great, it is shit slow but it sounds great Bealieboy, Gwr corrado and daveyboy
Bealieboy 1,625
Sorry but I have to agree with calico. I really like the Bmc noise, it's quite addictive! If you're buying new or used, just make sure it's a 85/150 type bmc. Edited January 31, 2015 by Bealieboy
Paular 112
Cheers lads will have a look at these. BMC you say.....
Paular 112
Ooof!! £185 for the BMC filter head. Any difference in noise between foam and fabric cones? Listen to me posting in "I want to make my car louder" thread, what a fcukin child! haha Edited January 31, 2015 by Paular daveyboy and Bealieboy
Bealieboy 1,625
Look out for a used one paular, I'm pretty sure a golf 1.8t fits too. Looking at serial numbers prior to buying my used one I noticed vr6 and 1.8t have the same 85/150 designation but the latter has an adapter to fit onto the 1.8t maf. I'm 99.9% sure that is removable and therefore becomes suitable for the vr6. You'll also need an 82mm diameter silicone pipe to go from your maf to the bmc, easily sourced from eBay! Paular 112
This is my current set up, does the CDA just go straight onto the short blue hose? cheers Edited February 4, 2015 by Paular
Bealieboy 1,625
Yep, it looks like it'll go in the available space. That's a pretty looking shrick! D11PS
Paular 112
Cheers fella. Found one on a local forum for sale, think its from an AUDI A3 8L 1.8T. Reckon that will go onto that blue hose? Aye, had the SHRICK powder coated and belt sanded when I had the engine build done. Looks well. ThanksPaul Edited February 4, 2015 by Paular

Mk3highline 287
Like that lolMy 24v is quiet from the induction side too think it might be the plastic manifold?

Bealieboy 1,625
Check out a website selling bmc filters, you should be able to match the numbers. This one looks like it reduces down after the filter which would suggest it may well be suitable for your beastie. It'll be an even noisier beastie once this is fitted! Big J 283
I never rated the BMC to be honest, not much volume from it, well not when it's all coupled up with a cold air feed as it should be. Was the same when I had one on an r32, very little induction from it. Can't beat a good old fashioned ram air or piper cross foam cone (with a heat shield of course) Gilly17
Ickyketseddie 89
I actually went for a enclosed RAM Air filter. £55. Brand spanking. Same principle as the BMC just without the eye watering price. Sounds fine IMO.

Paular 112
Going to stick a new cone on and see how that goes. Got a Stroeve kit on at the minute so quick polish of the Ally intake pipe should smarten things up. The BDA I had lined up would need connecting hose, brackets etc.. so not worth the hassle. CALICO 130
I bought 2 bmc's in the past second hand for between £65 & £85 no cold air feed, the 24 valve does not have as much induction roar standard so that's possibly why its not as loud after fitting a bmchttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-Corrado-VR6-bmc-cda-Induction-Kit-filter-/121559382486?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item1c4d80f9d6 Edited February 6, 2015 by CALICO Ickyketseddie, Paular and Bealieboy
