Asking about size of wheel in my golf MKIII Vr6 engine

Recommended Posts

If you are changing the wheels you will have to decrease the profile of the tyre for the bigger wheel. For example, standard size for a gti is 205/50/15, if you change to 16 inch, then 205/45/16 tyre and for 17 inch, 205/40/17 tyre. By decreasing the tyre profile (the middle number) it will make the same distance covered for one complete turn of the road wheel regardless of 16 or 17 inches diameter.

I have the similar wheels, no issues on 205.40  Toyo and 195.45 Hankook currently on the car. Did your ones come from a mk4? Think they are not as wide as the mk3 anniversary wheels. You might want spacers then as they sit quite tucked into the arch. The 45 profiles didn't make much difference but look neater imo. Hope this is some help,

James
