air in the cooling system

iv just changed my aux watar pump lost about a pint of water which i replaced but now theres air in the system it gurgles when i turn the engine off how do i get rid of it iv taken the cap off the expansion tank and will let it cool down to see if that works

I changes my coolant a while ago. Had the same problem with gurgling aux water pump. I had air trapped in heater matrix. Turn the heater to hot, does it blow hot air? or is it just warm. Mine was warm - got rid of air by squeezing the two pipes which run thru the bulkhead into the matix with the engine on, and cap off and the rad fan on. Obviously be carefull not to get clothing etc.. caught in the rad fan while you're bending over.

where is the matrix? any pics of the pipes?

You cant see the matrix - its between the bulkhead and dash. Two pipes in question on attached pic. Make sure your heater is set to MAX though.

cheers for that iv been sqeezing the black pipe with the cap on and the heater cold il try that method is it safe to drive the car with air in the coolant????

iv tried that method most of the air is gone but im struggling to get the last bit out the heater was hot btw will the small amount of air thats left work its way out or is it dangerous???

i was under the impression that to make sure you dont have air in the system you just switched the heater to hot and run the engine for a short while with the expansion cap off.

i found that i had air left in the system for about a week. To get rid of the last bit i drove the car with the cap ON. Then with the engine hot-ish un-did the exp tank cap (not all the way, just enough so that it hisses). You may find that the coolant level actually goes up, but if you leave it to cool totally with cap off it'll go down. Then just top up.

im goin alton towers tomorow il see what happens the temp gauge never goes over 90 degrees il keep my eye on it
