My charged VR is sounding a liitle sick and being on 105k looks like its the timing chains need replacing. THe engine is also breathing a little heavy from the cam breather pipe.

So planning to wip the engine out, and fit new chains, guides etc, make sense to chuck on a new clutch and headgasket whilst i am there i think, enabling me to run a spacer plate to drop the compression a touch, so i can up the boost :-)

Now as i will have the head off, i might as well get it a good going over, skim and new valve guides. Is there anything else thats recommended whilst this is being done and is it best being done by a machine shop that knows about VR engines or can any shop do this?

Can anyone recommmend a shop around Reigate in surrey (J8 M25) to do the work

I am going to look at the bottom end too, hopefully it's not that.

I have a problem with the loom to the blue temp sensor and it thinks it has a problem, hopefully it's that, that's causing the problems, otherwise this could get expensive :-(

Well it's breathing heavy through the crankcase breather

So took it for a compression test and

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

175. 142. 138. 172. 159. 161

Leak test

1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.

50%. 55%. 65%. 20%. 20%. 20%

And when testing it was leaking so badly it was coming back through many different point and other cylinders when doing it
