stu h 0
the vr takes a bit of winding up to get it going - the power kicks in about 3500/400 revs. they're pretty lame anything under that really
Eat this 2
misfiring could be leads or coilpack theyr not exactly crap below 3500 but as stuh says they wake up about then
stockers 1
mm, leads or coilpack, is there a test i can do without taking it to my mechanic? i'm a novice at repairs. cheers

badboyV6 4
Looking at the enigne, on the right hand side where all the ignition leads plug into ... Its a metal block... Unless yours is an early car and has a distributor cap......in which case its not the coil pack ;-)

stockers 1
oh right, g + s carry vw ones but recommended non vw but german made, saving around £100.i'm changing the plugs and treating the car to an oil change aswell so will post with results. (i will recieve my bentleys manual in a few days so hopefully will be able to carry out more work myself), cheers
stu h 0
a few have had trouble with the cheap leads. warren aka badboyv6 had a bad experience with some from either gsf or ecp recently.best to use a genuine filter from vw and synta silver oil seems to be the most popular, again from vw at a good price. you'll need to buy more than the 5litre tub as the engine takes roughly 6 to fill (i think)is seriously underpowered below 3500?? if its still smooth and just not as quick as you expected then there maybe nothing wrong. easiest way to tell is to get it on a rolling road to check the power output. badboyV6 4
Dont get the leads from GSF if you can afford not to- they are crap!!!!! (sometimes you end up with an ok set but its not worth the hassle) Get Magnecor ones- they are 100 quid but come with a 10 year warranty!!! I bought a set of leads from GSF- and went to RR day 2 weeks later only to find out they were already fooked!...
stockers 1
cheers guys, it is pretty smooth on acceleration, but at low speeds around 30mph and low revs 2000 and under but in gear 4/5 i can feel the car/engine jump or lerch a little, thats what orriginally made me think of plugs and that it was missing a spark??
