vdubgirl 3 Posted May 6, 2005 Report Share Posted May 6, 2005 I know i set the discount scheme up with HIC but to tell you the truth I'm a bit p1ssed off with them at this moment in time.I've noticed the last couple of months theres been some changes to the company and I've just realised how extensive these changes have been!Just phoned them up to cancel my insurance on my MKII Diesel and re-insure the 16v now the cost wasn't to bad to change the policys over it was only a extra £50 which isnt bad considering I've changed a cheap and cheerful H plate diesel over to a 16v with mods. But hey here comes the catch £520 excess These are some of the faces I pulled what I got told this;!amazed :? ~ &| :@ !dodge I'm like "why the hell has my excess gone up from £250 to that"The reply"you have alloys and lowered your car"I'm like "I just told you the alloys are only worth £100"The reply "Its standard policy now"Humm me thinks a new insurance company may be instore when the VR6 runs out of insurance cause god only knows what my renewal will be for that! Tis a big shame they've gone like that I've had no problmes with them for the last 5 years and thought they were quite competitivly priced. [ Edited ] Link to post Share on other sites

Before you used to get all the free wheels extra speil whilst you were on hold and how they like'd people with modded cars and people who raced etc etc (if you been on hold with them you'll know what I'm going on about)Also most of the staff were lads who were into there cars and stuff. Now you get classical music whilst on hold and have to try and describe your car to some dosy bint who would know the differnce between a alloy or a steel wheel! Link to post Share on other sites
badboyV6 4 Posted May 6, 2005 Report Share Posted May 6, 2005 yeah i know what you mean Claire, Thing is i remember cos im usually on hold for about 30 minutes before getting to speak to them.....However Adrian Flux couldnt match the quote i had from HIC, and brentacres words were 'dont turn that doen as we cant get anywhere near that' Even one of the mangers (Lee) came on the phone and asked who- told him and he was shocked.... They've quoted me nigh on 1000 quid for both of us on the VR this year, where i paid 599 for both of us on the Corrado last year (throught Elephant). The best quote so far has come from a broker in SOmerset at £450, but thats just for me. Brentacre are the cheapest for both of us ,at £540, but i'll be ringing them later to try and get that below 500, then i'll roll with them. Link to post Share on other sites

I've found out Elephant (Admiral) dont allow major mods so am thinking about moving. However this has given me second thoughts about HIC. What is Greenlight like? I've heard from other members they allow superchargers and major mods so I may look into going with them in the near future... unless I hear any bad stories from anyone!Cliveyp I love your headlights... are they mark 4 conversion lights of some kind?
