Hi,
Just thought I'd start a thread of my golf.

I have bought this to use as a road legal track day toy.

It has already had some mods done.
K+N panel filter,
6 branch stainless wrapped manifold and system.
Koni Shocks + eibach springs,
312mm Front brake upgrade and red stuff pads,
17" Kahn alloys.

Here are some pics of it when I picked It up.

So the first Job I've done was to source a bonnet the same colour and swap that over.

After

A marked Improvement I feel.

I have found a few faults with the car so am going to get them sorted this week as I have my first track day 1 week from today.
Jobs to do are;-
fresh pair of wishbones,
rear engine mount,
front n/s wheel bearing,
fresh brake fluid,
have a look where i'm loosing water.

So yesturday the golf decided it wasn't going to start. The starter packed up. I whipped it off last night and had it refurbed this morning, then fitted this afternoon.

Also took a bit more of the interior out.

Well they do say Lightening is the best form of tuning.

Spent the day on the vr6 yesterday.

Here's the jobs I did.

Replaced both front wishbones,
N/S front wheel bearing,
Cut 1 coil out of each front spring ( in an attempt to bring the font of the car down a little, unsuccessful),
Rear n/s engine mount,
Changed the brake fluid and bled the brakes.
Fitted a pair of front wiper blades,
New panel filter, turns out the car didn't have a k+n panel filter like the seller said it had.

What event did you do at Bedford? I went to a How Fast there, it was a great couple of hours.

Weight saving on a MK 3, take the side impact bars out of the doors, they weigh heavy as does the sand bag sound deadening under the carpets.

I stripped out a MK 3 GTi, surprising how much can be removed.

I would get the rest of those plastics out :) be much lighter then! And get some good springs and it will improve it muchly. Lol

That bonnet made a world of difference though.

yeah, bonnet made a big difference.

Am bidding on another set of springs on ebay at the mo. I'm sure I'll be taking more out. lol

So the front of the golf sat way too high, so I managed to get a used set of konigsport adjustable damping coilovers for what I think was a fair price.

Today I managed to fit the fronts.

Here's a before pic,

And here's after,

Not sure its going to stay that low.

I still need to free off the rear's spring seats, once that's done I'll throw the backs on.
