I've been suspicious for a while that my sills were deteriorating badly.

Got it jacked up over the weekend and cleaned some of the crap off, hoping to find it wasn't as bad as I thought. Unfortunately, it was in fact the opposite.

Here is my driver's side sill

And here is the passenger sill: :o

Yes, that is a hole.

Now, I'm not sure whether that will pass an MOT and equally unsure whether or not it can be repaired for sensible money. Any informed opinions?

drivers side isn't too bad...think that can be treated and saved, but passenger side will need a repair section welded in i fear.

it won't be as horrifically expensive as you're prob imagining....take the skirt off and then go get some quotes. beuty of you having skirts is that the paint finish after the work ain't important (id consider just underseal once its done i think).

crikey calire...that sound nasty.

tbh i'd just get them patched up and put underseal on them if i were in nick's shoes....it'll be hidden by the skirt. obviously highlines don't have the skirt so need a better job (as it'll be visible)

Both side of mine are fooked and seeing the cars having a complete overhal we thought it would be best just to put new sills on the car instead of cutting out the nasty sectios, which are now 4" wide with rust, and re plating them B)
