Took advantage of the weather and tested some new products!

Recommended Posts

After getting upclose and personal cleaning the new VR I noticed quite a few imperfections on the paint, none that you would notice unless you were cleaning my car very week lol. Never the less they were there. I purchased some new poorboys super suds shampoo and I must say it is awesome stuff. The tiniest drop creates a massive lather. I dried it with my Dodo Juice super dry detailing towel, masked it up and gave it the once over with the DA Machine and maggies polish. Poorboys black hole was then used as normal followed by EX-P Sealant by poorboys. Never used it before but was advised it does make a difference. I applied the sealant using the machine and finished it off with the usual Nattys Blue! All I need is another layer of sealant tomorrow followed by the wax! Should see me through winter!

I had to pop to the shops and a MK5 1.9 TDi 105 fail in an attempt to embarrass me lol! Thing is this guy was pushing 50 and his wife was not happy! Go home with your BXE old lad!

Lovely looking results there I'd be interested what you think of black hole in terms of longevity, cos every time I've applied it the finish is another level of awesome but it seemed to not last 5 mins and take all above layers of sealant and wax with it, I've got 3/4 of a bottle left, haven't used it again since.

If you like the poorboys shampoo and haven't tried it yet, when you finish it try dodo juice born to be mild it's the best shampoo I've used.

The thing is mate black hole is a polish! Its designed to cut & compound as with all polishes. So it will remove any wax or sealant you may have on the surface. Once you have clayed and polished and got a foundation you are happy with. You then need to protect it with wax! Around 3 layers. After that just wash weekly until the water stops sheeting in areas. I am using the EX-P sealant between the layers of wax as recommended by a professional detailer!

If you haven't noticed I am a poorboys fanatic I like their stuff for price and ease of use and quality! The stuff they do for the darker car is great!

A Glaze is a fine polish Lukey it works on the same principle! Fine compounds break down the surface! Its just a lot finer then most polishes the reason in the mirror like finish! Hence the term "Glaze". I miss read your first post the word ABOVE I missed. Therefore I read that you were trying to apply the "GLAZE" onto your wax. Fact is I enjoy the detail so I never notice how long a wax lasts as I keep on top of doing it! Its not my daily either! So sometime it will not even be driven between cleans....

You need to get on it chap you have some shows coming up in Norn Iron to be winning old bud! Get the Polish out or is it Glaze??

So is it garaged all the time? If I had a garage I wouldn't have to be a slave to the weather. Glazes have mostly fillers to fill swirlmarks in the paint, if you tried to poIish out swirls with black hole you'd be there all week lol. I think it taking the layers above off with it is because of the fillers, the wax/sealant bonds to that and when the black hole comes off it takes them too.

Trying to polish any swirls by hand with any normal polish will take you a week. Swirls require a courser compound and either a DA or Rotary to remove them properly. I have a garage but to be fair I don't use it! I would have to drive the car across my breakers Yard to get to it. So any cleaning done in there is a waste of time when I need to drive it out! With the idea of the glaze taking any sealant/wax you use I honestly wouldn't know! I have always used poorboys, I have tried others but I know what I like and the results on the darker VR6's I have owned speak for themselves!

Yeah she is going great Rob. Barely moves though very rarely out in her. One of the lads sent a wrong part out to AVG VW Specialist in Doncaster. So I popped over there today in her and all the lads had a good nosey around it! Makes all the effort worth while. I will be taking it to Belfast in June as it will be transporting me and the bride from City Hall to the reception lol Hiring 2 cars for the mothers and bridal party! The Mrs asked "What car will we hire" No chance I will be flooring my VR up the bypass! (Secret getaway motor incase I feel the urge to run) Hows the other half? I should of popped over and done a number on that tuner 4 cylinder blower your driving these days!!

I tell you what she is worried but sure June is near marching season fella so they will be fighting about something else by then!! Anyone tries to to take the VR for burning in protest and they will be squashed lol
