South Yorkshire police have another new way of making money.

Just spoken to one of the mates tonite and he was telling me he saw the police outside his house using a new speed camera system that works in the dark. It's a box (size of a TV) thats place on the side of the road, he said it looks like it works by registers your speed head on (probably laser) and then takes the two pictures of the back of your car. A unmark police van was parked 50yard down the road, probably so no one nicks the box i guess. They were using it between 9 & 11.00pm in Doncaster last wednesday if anyones interested.

Mmmm sounds like another easy way of making money to me. The plod using it must be on some coin, if it's classed as overtime to them.

Anyone else seen or heard of one being used?

Thats an ANPR (automatic number plate recognision), it checks your number plate as your goin past, then sends the information to a database, so they can see if the car is nicked etc, you would have probably found a police car not so far away, ready for a chase!

They are used for road tax dodgers, stolen cars, and cars suspected of being used in crimes :)

ANY kind of speed camera HAS to have warning signs before you get to them!!!!! 8) :D

I work for a company that does lots of stuff for the government- not a favourite talking point lol... Theres a new traffic light system coming out this year - speed on green.Basically if you try to get out on an amber light quickly (over a certain speed) itll fine you for speeding at the junction!!!!!
