rev problem, slow returns of rpm to idle

Hello,

My car does this annoying little thing, it stays reved up at about 2000 rpms even when i'm in neutral and it won't come down to idle until the car is at full stop.

Also when i'm driving in 1st gear at about 2000 rpms and let go of the gas the rpms do not drop instantly instead it just sits there until the engine brake comes on and slows the car down to idle speed...but very slowly

Also my idle sits a bit high i think, the needle shows me about 1000+ but I'll do a check with the VAG cause i'm not sure if it's accurate.

do a check with VAG-COM but you probably need to clean your ICV Idle control valve with some carb cleaner as a start :-)

i have an odb 2 and as far as i know i don't have a valve. throttle opening is controlled from a sensor which is part of the throttle body

if you turn the ignition on, without starting the car, and wait for 15-20mins the throttle body will reset itself. You should be able to here the servo whirring away.

Also check the throttle cable and body to ensure its returning correctly to its stop position.

IACV on the OBD2 lump is located inside the throttle body mate.

Had/Have the same problem with mine and im having to replace the whole throttle body.

We got it working fine last week after cleaning it all out but now its been sitting there for 3 days its started again!!

I work at Euro car parts and one from us is £185 on staff but you can find them on ebay for £30-£60 second hand.
