kolbywatson32 0
Okay, I'm having an issue with my 1994 passat,vr6. it's my daily driver and i love it to death but a very..bad problem has occured. every 500 miles or so, it burns a quart to a quart and a half of oil. ive heard about this before but im not sure why its doing it. the car runs like a champ and it hasnt lost much power but im afraid something could be seriously wrong. can anyone help me? craig46 0
Not a major problem, but definately keep an eye on it. If you can check compression in all cyclinders. Its probably your valve stem seals or piston rings worn or both. Burning oil is you cars way of asking you politley for a rebuild
kolbywatson32 0
hmm. can you replace valve stem seals and piston rings or is it not worth it? im no good with engines and dont have much of an idea. but i will check the compression of my cylinders.thanks
hvr6 88
piston rings and stem seals relacement is not an easy job for a beginner and quite expensive at a garage, get the compression test done that'll tell you if you have bore wear or piston rings have wornwhat's the mileage? kolbywatson32 0
the mileage is a little less than 214,000and my cousin owns a garage and wouldnt charge me labor,i would just like to know if its worth replacing.

cexy_ratt 0
will defo be piston rings and valve seals, leak down or compresion check.Try adding a little oil into the bore if the compresions is low then re test will go down and down in psi if the rings have gone
