No you dont.

Reseting the ECU is not needed at all..

Regardless OBD1 or 2

why's that ?? I was told that the reason for re-setting is that people have reported power lost after long period's of driving, as if the ECU had lost its knowledge ( was again finding the parameters for the position of the throttle with idle etc) of the sensor values and therefore disconneting the battery elimates this problem.

I had an issue 2 years back on Throttle sensor-obvioulsy the throttle itself, found that I lost performance, took the Bi*** apart, cleaned and slapped it back on, felt the improvment, no need of disconnection on battery etc! Then the bi*** played up again, ended up replacing, no probs, no disconnection.
