Car insurance for the younger ones among us

Recommended Posts

Right I've had my VR6 now for a year and my insurance is coming up for remewal.

Bit of background info...

I'm 19

2 years NCB

No Claims or Points

1995 Golf VR6 3dr

Only thing I find is the specialist insurers that will give a discount for VR6OC members won't insure under 21's.

Also I had my 1st year on the VR6 as a 10 month policy as I couldn't afford to pay for the 12. Not sure if this was the right thing to do now I look back because I have 2years NCB but my licence 2 years in Feb.

Any idea's?

Unfortunately, Craig is right there ^^ This is a scheme designed to keep your custom and makes it very difficult to change insurers :(

The only thing you can do is ask your current insurer to send you confirmation of your NCB as a percentage, rather than number of years. You may be lucky and find another insurer who will take that into account. Or you could try and find another insurer who does this bonus accelerator scheme.

And no, you won't be able to get 2 months cover from your current insurer.

Cheers Pete, I've sent them a message.

Thanks to everyone else too.

My renewal come back as £1500 for 3rd PF+T for another 10 months. But I can be fully comp for £1806 which I don't think is that bad (for my age etc)

Just normal 3rd PF+T is £1900!

Also It's £200 cheaper for me to insure a Supra 3.0 Twin Turbo as long as it's a UK model. How does that work!

My insurance last year when i got my vr was £1500 with Adrian Flux and wehn it came up for renewal they quoted £1800 which didnt make a great deal of sense given i had an extra NCB 8-)

Insurance this year at 21 with 2 NCB is £600 with Flux Direct, bargain!

On a seperate note i cant believe Pete is only 25! LOL :o

Yeah they are very good' date=' part of HIC i believe. My bro went with them for his imported Celica last year and he was only paying £1000 with 0 NCB and 6 points and he was 22.

Def worth getting a quote from them.

Too late now, maybe next year, just shelled out £816 with admiral....nevermind :(
