It's alive!!!

Went to my local pirtek branch to make up my oil lines as didn't have correct tools here to do the job and wanted peace of mind 🏻 They have done a great job and only £38 - I supplied the li

I went to Stealth yesterday, feeling quite apprehensive! I am the 3rd car that has used their new strapping system, so they can run higher power cars without needing to use glue all of the time, and a

Soooo then guys. Been a while since my last update.

Engine is now run in ( yay ) and feels really strong on the road.

Passed MOT last month without issue and was planning take on holiday to Cornwall.

After giving it a once over, I noticed the water pump bearing had gone (great!) so replaced that and I thought we were good to go!

post-81920-143992908781_thumb.jpg

Or so I thought! Set off at 4am and drove 100 yards before it broke down. Lovely! Clifford alarm decided to immobilise the car which was great! Couldn't get it going properly and managed to limp it back home and pack my other car.

post-81920-143992927424_thumb.jpg

2 weeks later I got back home and Cabbs came down mine help strip the alarm out. At this point I had lost confidence and decided best cause of action, and given it was VWNW the next day of course!

Removing the alarm was a doddle and a couple hours labour (cheers Carl!)

post-81920-143992939487_thumb.jpg

So I spent a good 7 hours going over the car with Carl's DA make it look swish again for the show. Hopefully you will agree it came up well !

Was a great day at VWNW and the the severe lack of sleep was worth it seeing it on the club stand!

And moving up swiftly to stage 2! Boost!

Picked up a Vortech V1 cheap as chips with dual idler setup. Was missing a few bits from the kit such as idler pulley spacers, longer alternator bolts and charger mount spacer.

I have knowledge, helpful friends and contacts so no problem!

A friend in the USA provided the info I need and a helpful member with a lathe in the UK made up alternator spacers (result)!

post-81920-143993039383_thumb.jpg

I removed the case from the charger which is currently down at the polishers getting polished, can't wait see it !

post-81920-143993045356_thumb.jpg

Just need to nip to the thread shop pick up 115mm alternator bolts and that's that sorted!

The pulley needs replacing but may be able to salvage it! It's a 2.75" pulley so will produce some good amounts of boost.

post-81920-143993059301_thumb.jpg

Pulley has some damage but watch this space.

So next need to source an air filter and a sumo to tap my return connector into.

The need to do a try run so I know what belt length I need and get that ordered and then can proceed with the install once I have made up the oil lines.

My setup came with a mapped OBD2 ECUand 380cc injectors.

I do want to make up some new pipe work as could look much better in stainless.

Will keep thread updated with my progress on installation.

I've got a spare new belt for the V9 set up if that helps Pete, there was nothing else anywhere near close available off the shelf over here, or even in the states when I looked

Cheers mate. Once I get it bolted up I'll have an idea of what size I need!

If it bolts where the old tensioner goes?

I made some for my supercharger.

The outside shape is not really important,

It's the holes that are important.

Although on mine I roughly followed the shaped of the cylinder head for the out side shape.

I made a few different thickness as I was unsure of the spacing.

Awesome. Yes it's very similar. I need a 9.44m thick plate. I've made up template pretty close to what should be in the kit.

A mate of mine has a laser cutter so should be a neat job :)

Ok small update.

I had noticed the pulley was slightly damaged upon inspection. The outer rib has somehow rubbed on something and rolled the outer lip inwards.

Not to worry. A very helpful person (the same person who made up my dual tensioner spacers infact) made a tool to un-roll it!

Looking good dude.

If you want it totally mint.

Put it in some caustic soda, to removed the anodising, leave it 10-15mins and the anodising will just wipe off, no sanding needed to remove it.

Then get it re-anodised, powder coat, or paint it.

Awesome. Yeah that's my aim/plan Paul.

There is this place down the road from me http://www.pw-finishing.co.uk so was hoping they would sort it out so it looks swank again.

I couldn't find any places that had a 2.75" pulley and that's what it's all mapped to etc... Plus didn't want to spend on getting the only available 2.70" or 2.80" pulley at nearly £90 from over the pond.

Ok, so a little progress today!

Finally finished my final template for the spacer, been a bit short on time recently!

If you happy to have Allen key heads

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=360675642473&globalID=EBAY-GB

Buy 120mm and chop off 5mm, or let 5mm hang out of end.

Or high tensile, again 120mm, chop 5mm off.

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=360850401876&globalID=EBAY-GB

25mm vacuum hose should work for the recirc valve.

I didn't know if the unthreaded bit would foul on the thread if it was longer meaning it doesn't fully thread in.

I suppose I will need to take a closer look at this and trail fit it all...

RE silicon hoses - I was looking at these http://www.autosiliconehoses.com/silicone-polyester-reinforced-hose-25mm-choose-from-15-colours.html - do you think it would be ok?

Next on my hit list is the air filter! I really don't want it hanging to low at the risk of sucking up water....

I have seen this filter that ships with the V3 kit and wondering if any sort of after-market type is available?

25mm silicone will be fine,

So will 25mm vacuum hose, as it only under boost for a coupe of seconds while the valve opens. Most of the time it's not under much pressure or boost at all.

You can also get special parts to add in to your air intake system if wanted, to stop hydro lock.

It's an extra intake point, that can open if the air filter gets wet and hydro locks.

The bolts should work fine, I need 100mm ones for my set up, and bought high tensile Allen key, same as I sent you.
