I'm upgrading my braking system at the end of the month once I get paid. I've already sourced dirt cheap Brembo cross drilled discs from the States front and rear and a set of stainless steel brake lines. Just been doing a bit of browsing online and look like I'm going to be paying around £100 for a front and rear set delivered to my door so want to make sure I get top quality ones.

I've had bad experiences with EBC Green Stuff so i think I'll be avoiding the whole of EBC's product range. The Pagid fast road ones look good and in the same sort of price range are Ferodo Performance and Black Diamond's new ones. Tar-Ox and Mintex seem a little more expensive.

Which ones are you guys running and got any good recommendations?

unless you overheat your current standard pads you don't need fast road stuff. if you have 288's you almost certainly will not overheat them. fast road pads are poor when cold, so whats the point in making that sacrifice when you don't need the extra heat handling capabilities that they do offer.

me, well i do overheat my 280's, so use pagid FR...very very hard pad, very poor cold, but will never overheat, and seemingly will never wear out! lol (18 months and loads left)

When I got my car I found I was getting a good bit of brake fade from the standard brakes (that most famous of Cheshire roads - the cat and fiddle - was just too much!!)

So I put EBC turbo (grooved and spotted) front disks with Ferodo DS2500 pads. I love em! - not too bad when cold and just get better and better the harder you brake!

I still have standard brakes on the rear which I think helps when the brakes are cold.

I was worried that it might be a bit unbalanced when I first did it and thought I would soon be upgrading the rear but it feels fine - seeing as the back dosn't take much load they seem to cope - so thinks its a nice balance between having shit hot brakes when pushing hard, but without the cold brake problems.

what size brakes you got si?

you won't get problems with brake balance on the vr6 really as it habs so even if its got too much bias one way ro the other you won't have any moments. though with the susp set up i have now i can kick the rear end out under braking and the abs can't stop it.

acf, I'm sure they are 288's on mine - May 1997.

You have probably seen on another thread that I have just fitted Neuspeed ARB's on mine, still on standard springs/dampers, I now get a little bit of lift off over steer - nearly caught me out the first time it did it! but now I'm expecting it I drive comfortably with it - Infact I really like it!
