It is diagonally split as acf says, two circuits so that failure in one circuit will still allow you to brake on the other. I could be wrong but I believe that the golf has single line brakes. Volvos for instance have two 'triangular' circuits where each one operates both front brakes and one back brake. There are therefore two brake lines going to each front caliper. I would guess this is dual line braking. Will check though.

ok, i finally found the instructions to the lockheed remote servo kit i was looking into fitting, to find that it will not allow fitting to a car with a tandem master cylinder, and guess what... the vr6 has a tandem master cylinder. so i guess i better just wait to see if this turbo fouls the servo, if so, i will be visiting a professional rally car builders to get some shit hot brakes on the fkr. thanks for your help tho people.
