Zonda_ 0
Was getting a new gearbox fitted in my MK1 Golf trackcar. Saw this Vento, and bought it I needed something to use as a tow car and it seemed ideal! With the added bonus that if the Golf breaks on track I can use the Vento! For those who are interested, it's a 93 car with 130k on it and cost me £1200 which seemed a good price. It's had uprated suspension fitted (not sure what type yet) and a Powerflow exhaust.Any hints/tips on what to look for? Was I robbed?
DundeeDub 0
don't think you were robbed at that price, just need to keep an eye out for the same things that go wrong on golfs as they are the same apart from the boot and a few cosmetic differences.on thing on ventos at the top of the rear number plate you get rust around the screws that hold the lights onwelcome to the club, have a look round the old posts in the engine, suspension area and you should find out the answer to most problems, if not just ask, its a friendly forum. acf8181 0
may be worth checking on the condition of the timing chains/runners/tensioners at that mileage, presuming they haven't been changed already.
Zonda_ 0
Thanks guys I will! It's been stood for 14 months as the old guy that owned it died and his widow didn't know what to do with it.I know it has a full VAG history though.I'm getting the bootlid resprayed as it has rust where the spoiler fastend on. acf8181 0
he sure does the only reason i notice he always say it is cuz i would but he beats me to it lolonly reason i go on about it so much is that i know the state of my top tensioner 'blade' runner when i removed it at 115k, would hate someone to not check them and have the runner completely go and take the engine with it.wish someone had told me all about timing chains when i was looking to buy a vr, i'd have spent more money for a low mileage one...all i got told was that they never needed changing (which is crap!).
