Remapping/dyno runs vr6-t advice

Recommended Posts

Wondering if anyone can help me.. I've got a mk3 vr6-t thats running on standard management.. I'd like to go have it remapped but got quoted 2500 from stealth for an ecu and mapping.. Anyone know of any cheaper options? Also anyone know anywhere in the midlands for cheap dyno runs? Cheers

I have one question!: Are u running with turbo chip? Sounds like you are running on stock vr6 management.

That you shouldnt do!

2500 sounds like ALOT.

Better off driving to Holland at the www.vr6specialist.com and get them to fix it.

Almost cheaper. ;)

What turbokit/ turbo setup do you have?

so you`ve been to stealth and storm, both quoting loads of dosh for a stand alone ecu, there loads of other ecu`s mbe , haltech, seems like the way your going but they are expensive, as you`ve found out but don`t forget the OEM seems like C2 and EIP have that area pretty much sorted from wot i`ve read,

I did actually say its running on standard management and i'm hoping to sort that next... Only running 10psi boost so its pretty low.. Just needs setting up properly.. Storm mapped it a while ago.. Its had a few new things since so looking to remap it again but the stock ecu won't really cope with it, though saying that there's alot of things it needs like a 6 speed and lsd lol

See if C2 have a good OBD1 map you can try. There's a C2 UK chap on this very forum.

Alternatively, if you're good with wiring and understand engine mapping, you can buy a second hand DTA P8 Pro for about £400 and I can send you half a dozen maps to try.

Is mtech in the uk? I spoke to c2 but i want a rolling road setup not a preconfigured map. I'd be well happy to have an emerald fitted and set up for 1k, any idea where? Gotta speak to midland vw l8r.. Hopefully jody will have an idea.. Thor performance gave me a good quote but they specialize in jap cars so not sure what they'd be able to do. Very grateful for everyone's advice.. Keep it coming

well i get mine from mtech, just google them, they are in the uk and provide ready built ms systems, the m3d is good but it gets pricey with the options. Mtech give u a base map and then u can get it to a rolling road to be fine tuned. I dont have access to a rr here so i just annoy the hell out of my mates and make them drive me around for hours.

mtech 07891328829, assuming u have a laptop and a little time/interest i would give mapping a go. Its in 12x12 format so its not that difficult just takes time for it to be perfect. This way as well u can use the stand alone to its full potential. As it has switchable maps, u could get one done on a rolling road and play with the other urself

Or you could consider converting to OBD2? If you do the work yourself, it's a lot cheaper than a [good] standalone and then you'll be able to use C2's 42lb code, and then later on the 63lb if you want more oomph.

I did that myself when I had a supercharger and whilst it is a lot better than OBD1, I still prefer using a standalone, but that's just my preference.
