theotherphil 0
Well, after having a start problem for approx 6 weeks my car has finally given up and won't start. Sometimes it'd fired up straight away, other times it would crank for ~10 secs before firing.I've done some basic checks....by-passed the alarm/ immobiliser. I then checked the output to the fuel pump and nothing. I then checked the ignition side....not a dicky bird. On hooking up a friends VAG-Com I get a "communication error".I've got it booked into a local Bosch specialist (who have an awesome reputation) for Monday so with a bit of luck it should get sorted. Does anybody have an idea on prices for an ECU from a '93 VR6 and where I could find one, preferably second hand? If not, anywhere I can get a new one for a decent price? It's a little annoying as it has been running so sweet since I bought it.[ Edited ]

theotherphil 0
Just a quick update on my initial problems. The car refusing to start was down to a speed/ position sensor on the crank. Replacing that fixed it not actually starting but I continued to get the problem where it would take ~10 secs of cranking to fire. The Bosch specialist was wanting to send the ECU away for a manual test but the company doing the testing would have to reflash the original program at a cost of £270. I decided to take the car back to the Superchip dealer who installed the chip 2 months previously....he did a lot of testing and narrowed it down to the Superchip protection board. He replaced it free of charge and my car now starts first time again!
