Another non-Highline on the Bay

Recommended Posts

Ok so we all know its not a highline but to be fair its a tidy looking car with highline spec... shame its an auto (and some people might say it has too many doors!) but highline is a bit of a generic term for well specced car so it gets banded about a lot

wonder why it has mismatched side repeaters?

As Justin says its a term that gets used a little and TBH its highline spec anyway.

I dont see what the big deal with a highline is personally, its the same for the hallowed Coraddo storm, its merely badge engineering, after all there are plenty other better specced non highline Golfs roaming these streets!!

its like all vw cars' date=' they always spec up the last of the line, "campaign" mk1 golfs are nothing more than a mk1 gti with optional extras already fitted, just like the last vr6`s albeit they were made in only 2 colours

Except highline werent the last of the line... they made them for 3 years!

so were mk1 campaings and scirroco storms and corrado storms, and Rallyes they are all a "run out" or exclusive model in escence though, and the top of the range car you could buy of its type with everything already on it, dosnt necesarrily make it a better car than any other, and granted martin yours with all its spec is zee danglies ;) but a highline is a specific model, think i have opened the old "highline can of worws"? im not making any big thing about it as i dont really give 2 foooks i just happen to have a highline and like it thats all :) but i dont like it enough to leave it standard ;) it should of left the factory like this imo ;) but with purple recaro front seats!!! (which i am hoping to put right in the not too distant future ;) )

I agree with you on the Recaro thing mate, its the same as the Corrado Storm they never came with them Either and personally i think that was a wrong move by VWs marketing dept.

I happen to like the highline alot, mulberry ones especially, but the thing that i despise about them is the purple seats, black would have been so much nicer

yeah you are justin so shut it ;):) the mk1 "campaign" was all based on EW chassis numbers but my Y reg GTI had a DW chassis, it was an identical car save for pirreli alloys, and they made them for about 2 years just unregistered! as for the Rallye yeah that was kinda special with only 5000 built in a 3 year run at VW`s motorsport works in Belgium, 5000 had to be built so it qualified for its intended Motorsport Homolagation, and the Corrados were all built at Osnabruck alongside the Mk1 cabriolets :)

and if were talking limited numbers then my Sportline must be one of the rarest VW`s ever built as they only built 450 of them!! im a bit of a Vag whore and have read too many books obviously! but have owned a fair few too, heres a selection of my finest,(not my finest photography though!)
