mina 0
Hello all,I've just bought the cheap plastic piece of shite from VW to remove the leads. After removing two plugs, the plastic lugs have snapped off. I've made one from a metal tube but am still unable to get the bastards out.The only way I can see to remove them now is to remove the inlet manifold and I really cannot be bothered with this shit. What a fu++ing stupid design. I bought another Golf because they werent put together as badly as Vaux/Ford/Pug etc.Can anyone shed any light, without having to shed out big bucks. As you can prob all tell, I'm pissed off with this car!Any help much appreciated guys!!Thanks
Pittuf 0
There is this thread from not so long ago about the plug removal tools availablehttp://www.vr6golf.co.uk/forum_viewtopic.php?10.15498As for your problem not too sure mate, you need to make up some sort of hook. It will need to be pretty strong. If you've already knackered the leads maybe a pair of long nose pliers?
VRmonster 1
yeah, if the leads are fooked, you can remove them with your hands, if not id advise buying one of the metal tools from that thread. try ebay
tandino 1
I bought the Snap-on tool the other day and i have to say its worth its weight in gold - lead removal is very easy and the tool allows you to push the leads back on until you hear the 'click'...Price inc delivery was just over £40 - if like me you value good tools for the job then its worth buying.Pete. tandino 1
Yep - im a bleeding great show off me ,On a serious note like the others have said if you have a new set of leads to go on the it wont matter if you damage the old ones whilst removing them - you can remove the inlet manifold plastic cover to get accesss to the rear bank of plugs which makes things easier!Pete.[ Edited Tue Jun 29 2004, 02:50PM ]
28v6r 0
Hey Pete...The tool that you bought... does it only remove the leads or can it be used to remove the plugs as well?? Reason: I need to do my plugs and I'm terrified of the Ol' siezed plugs routine as the car hasn't been serviced to well in it's past and it's overdue... Just curious Buddie that's all.... tandino 1
No its just a remover/installer for the leads themselves...Plugs once the leads are off are quite accessible with a rachet and wobble bar extension - just go steady undoing them !dodge Pete.
