  1. Got one of these fitted to my mk2 golf vr6, can recommend them enough, easy to install and does really make a big difference in terms of throw and positive gear change, besters is a top bloke to deal with too.
  2. Small update The mk3 clocks in the car are a pretty naff fit and kept falling out of place behind the dash and just generally being a nuisance. Wrapped some loom tape neatly round the right had side to stop the clocks falling out then tactically cable tied the other side in to stop that side moving about, not the prettiest fix but the clocks sit a lot more central and don't fall out anymore! Forgot to take a picture with the front dash plastic back on, actually started the job to replace a blown bulb but thought I may aswell get the clocks sat the best I can. Cheers louis
  3. Spent an hour on the car this afternoon and got my short shifter kit fitted, wasn't sure how this would go and had a go according to what the guide said, easy peasy job just had to file a tiny bit out of the car to slide the main pin out, gear shift feels along more positive and a lot shorter! winner winner.. [ tiny bit I had to file.. noting major and hardly noticeable.. for the sake of 55 quid id highly recommend one... Also bought a genuine centre console for the electric windows as mine had a rubbish aftermarket panel bolted in, re wired all the windows which was a small job
  4. yeah I can understand that most have probably been subject to a lot of hammer over the years, ive just recently had most of my cylinder head freshened up and did the head gasket at the same time, block was good, it seems to have freshened my engine up alot and gives goo piece of mind. id love to go through with a fine tooth comb like you have and stick all new bits in where needed. I think if I was you id be like a giddy kid to have it back
  5. This looks mega! bet you cant wait to get back to driving it with the new lump in
  6. Small update on this.. ordered a gearbox to gearbox mount brace from seat... normally used for the cable change conversion. sure you can buy them without clutch cable tab but couldn't find a part number on vagcat. Found out there obsolete to order new so the guy at seat had one that tps London had in stock sent up to Sheffield. winner. Ended up running into a small problem, car wouldn't go into second gear all the way, ended up having to cut the cable change bolt down to sit flush with the bottom of where it sits captive and then file a good 8mm off the top of the metal part where the clut
  7. Nice colour dude, sadly mk3s are notorious for rusting pretty badly, should look sweet once it's sorted though!
  8. Good progress on this fella, looked like abit of a dog when you first bought it, nice to see bodges and bad work bing put right and having a proper direction to the build. top work!
  9. Cheers mate, yeah I've done a few bits and bobs want to try and keep it running as well as it can. going to make up a heat shield for the filter if I can try and stop as much heat getting to it, will keep it updates as I do more jobs on it Cheers Louis
  10. Hi All, Thought I would make a build for this car as I consider it a car that I will probably keep forever. Ill start with a few pictures of previous cars.. My 2.0 8v Jetta.. 2.0 bottom end, 1.8 p+p cylinder head, 4-2-1 manifold, 900 carbs, 268 newman camshaft. was very good fun for my first attempt at modifying a car. Mk1 mx5.. Mk3 Vr6/Mk2 vr6 build.. My Current car.. I bought the car from a really good friend about a week after finishing my own mk2 vr6 project car, its a 1991 bright blue metallic OBD1 2.8 vr6, G60 arches, Electric windows, momo team 280 steering wheel, coil overs, full
