VR6 corrado unknown ABS fault, failing brakes

Recommended Posts

Right, where to begin, iv been scouring forums for weeks now to no prevail on the same fault im currently having with my corrado.

Recently my clutch started sticking when held down too long (5 seconds at max). Changed the slave cylinder and this seemed to remedy the problem.

However at the same time as this happening, everytime i started the car in the morning, i would drive to the end of my drive and the first time i used the brakes, they would lock up and the ABS light would then light up.

from this, completely at random, when using my brakes gradually (when slowing for lights, junctions etc) the brake pedal would physically drop and on occasion get as low as touching the floor, leaving me with very limited braking. Obviously this isnt ideal, especially on a daily.

I have seen many issues on forums with the brake pedal sitffening up when there is an ABS fault, but nobobdy with a dropping brake pedal.

Has anybody get any knowledge of this or any advice, as i really dont want to take the car to a mechanic that is inevitably going to just keep replacing every part of the ABS system until he gets it right and charge me the earth for the pleasure.

No experience with this, but have you ran VAG-COM through ABS see what it says?

I have had issues with sensors that would cause ABS to kick in, in the past.... Corrado ABS is very flakey and ive seen quite a few issues over the years!

If you do take to a mechanic I would agree up front no fix no fee agreement!
