stylance.tdi 2
Hi,I know this has been done before quite a lot but I've always wanted to do a VR6 into Mk3 Golf Cabriolet. Do I need to use a VR6 subframe or will it mount on the subframe from the 1.6 / 1.8?And if a VR6 subframe does need to be used do I then have to use a VR6 rear axle to keep it all wide track? Thanks in advance for any help. Big J 283
Pretty sure you need the subframe mate but the rear axle shouldn't be an issue. Many people use vr6 subframe under mk2s without an axle swap.It would however mean you would have the discs on the rear if you have a donor car which is pretty much essential with the 6 cylinders
leon263 31
I did this very conversion not too long ago. I sourced a donor car and just dropped the complete engine, sub frame, drive shafts, bigger brakes and everything out in one go and bolted it straight into the Cabby. You'd be daft not to use the rear axle from the VR as you'll get a disc brake rear end . Edited January 3, 2015 by leon263 D11PS and livemyers
