Website Relaunch - New Year 2007

The VR6 Owners Club will be relaunching it's web services early next year. After a spite of recent performance issues with the website, we will also be taking this opportunity to migrate to our own dedicated server, which should see an end to the critical errors.

This means that we will be able to offer a host more services and enhancements over our current website.

Expect to see the introduction of the following services during the early part of next year :

I've installed a new "Private Message System" often abbreviated as a "PM". This new system brings greater flexibility and additional features for Premium Members.

The VR6 Owners Club is certainly booming at the moment with new memberships and membership renewals coming through on a daily basis.

However I'd just like to say I've got an increasing amount of membership applications which have not been paid for. Unfortunately to keep on top of things I cannot upgrade Users accounts or send out welcome packs until this payment has been received.

Therefore if you pay Via paypal you can get your account upgraded pretty much straight away as we receive the payment notice almost immediately. If you choose to pay by means of Cheque or Cash I cannot not upgrade your account until we have received the payment.

The same applies for renewals if you have found your Premuim Membership account has been disabled this will be because we have not yet received the payment and your Membership is now out of date.

I have sent every member whos Membership has nearly expired an renewal reminder e-mail and this e-mail contains all the information you need to renew your membership.

If anyone has any problems with there account or membership queries then please email membership@vr6oc.com and I will be more than happy to responde to any questions asked.

Reuters is now reporting that 120,000 + people are dead as a result of the tsunami that hit countries on Boxing Day. There are tens of thousand of people still un-accounted for, and the real figure could be much much higher. Hundreds of thousands of people are still at serious risk from disease and they desperately need your help and support. In all, as many as two million people are without homes.

It?s been quite a while since we?ve introduced any new features or changes to the website, over the last week or so, I?ve been working on a new ?automated? classifieds section.

Classifieds will be displayed for 28 days and then they will be removed automatically, should you wish to re-list the item, you will have the option to do so from the ?classifieds? link on the menu and then clicking ?Add/View/Edit/Delete Your Classifieds?

A number of members have now approached us with regards to the forums performance. This is in hand, and the next major website update should help reduce some of the slowness & problems with the forum.

Premium Member Benefits

Premium Members are now able to upload images into the forum/classifieds section of the website; this will save signing up with a 3rd party hosting company to link your images to.

We would also like to announce that HIC insurers are offering 5% discount to all Premium Members.

Window Stickers

VR6Golf.co.uk Expands to ALL VR6 Owners!

VR6Golf was intended started out as an information source and a fan website for my own Golf VR6 (hence the website name www.vr6golf.co.uk) since September 2003 the website has grown considerably, and I feel it has outgrown it?s name with other models of VR6?s entering the website.

What I plan to do is this, shortly www.vr6oc.com will be launched. This will not replace VR6Golf.co.uk, it will in fact work in conjunction with each other, sharing the same website interface, and user database (Leave all the technical stuff to me). From feedback from our current members the whole scene needs to be covered, and gaps need to be filled. So far we have done a good job so far, but things will only get better from here on in.

Please hold tight over the next few weeks while I set the websites to function correctly, We look forward to bringing you The VR6 Owners Club!

All cars which are being displayed on the VR6Golf stand must be in place on site by 9.00am.

We have booked 10 places but I'm sure if more people want to come we can arrange more space.

You can buy tickets to get into the show on the day but if you want cheaper tickets i.e. (�5 per person) you can pre book via the form which you can download from the website www.bristolvolksfest.co.uk but there is a deadline date for pre-bookable tickets.

If people are wishing to display their cars then they need to contact vdubgirl as she has the passes to get into the display area. Please contact vdubgirl either by PM or on mobile 07795 567653.

There is very cheap camping available the night before on the site otherwise there are local hotels but at the moment most rooms are at a price of �50 per night which is a bit pricy.

After the success off the last VR6Golf.co.uk Rolling Road Day, there is to be another one held on the 31st October 2004 at Stealth Racing, A full report on our first Rolling Road Day can be found here.

The day will consist of the following;

VR6 Power Shoot Out - Put your VR6 on the Rolling Road for an accurate power read out and see how your VR6 compares to others, The price of this is �20 per vehicle.

Mini Show & Shine - If you don?t fancy listening to the sound of your VR6 begging for mercy on the Rolling Road, or you would like to show your gleaming pride and joy, you can always take part in our mini show and shine, The cost for entering this is �3 per vehicle all proceeds go to VR6Golf.co.uk

The will be a trophy for the winners of the Rolling Road Shoot Out and Show and Shine & Chocolate Bar's for the bottom BHP read out.

If you live further field, you can always enjoy the wonderful company of the VR6Golf.co.uk members, The last Rolling road day night out was at a local TGI Friday's, it was a great night, with many cocktails flowing throughout the evening.

Arrangements for GTI International 2004 as follows;

I will be camping on the Friday night at the local Camp Site.

The gates open at 09:00, there is a waiting bay before the gates, where I will be with the passes.

The stand will work as follows;

You must ALL be at the waiting bay, as if you aren?t then you won?t get on the stand, as I have the Passes.

It will work like a county fair car parking, as you arrive you will park, no jiggling around, as if you all arrive on time, all 12 cars will be next to each other.

The same will apply for Sunday.

Website Issues

Over the last few weeks you may have noticed that the website has been experiencing some issues with bandwidth allocations. This is due to the sheer volume of people who are visiting the site due to its success across the VR6 community.

Currently I'm funding the club/website from my own pocket, as the site is getting more popular, more traffic is generated and extra costs are taken out of my pocket to keep the website up and running, At the moment this isn?t possible, I would like to keep the site up 24/7 for you all to benefit from.

I'm currently running a thread that's located here for you provide you feedback on the situation. For the time being I have disabled use of the gallery and the hosting facility for Avatars and Profile photographs, this should hopefully conserve our bandwidth usage for the coming month.

Moderators Required

I am currently after people who are willing to help run/maintain the website as it?s quite difficult running a one man show. For the regular members, there is a chance that you can a moderator, if you feel you can help, please email pete@flump.net stating why you would like to be one.

GTI International 2004

We are still awaiting confirmation on the position of our club stand, As soon as I know where we stand, arrangements will be made for who is to display on our stand.

I would like to thank everybody who made the effort in attending our first ever event, you all helped to put VR6Golf.co.uk On it's first stepping stone to pave the way for future events.

I believe that we had the in access to 30 cars running on the rollers, with the top runner's being the super charged boys, Mina ended up with an impressive 317BHP

We all had an amazing day, with a good night out prior to the event with Ben, Claire and Matt, The weather, although a little chilly was perfect conditions for the VR6?s to obtain that sweet note of the deep induction roar.

Some of the photo's are now up in the gallery, more will be added during the week as more photos are submitted. Logo Competition

Are you good with computer Graphics? If so, here's your chance to see your work recognised across the UK

I am looking for the best logo to replace the current one. With the club now getting bigger by the month, more events and show stands will be immanent; obviously we want to be recognised across the UK as the leading Golf VR6 club, but this can?t be done with out a club logo.

The Logo will have to fit in with scheme of the website as well as being easily printable on Banners and possibly other merchandise in the future.

If more than 20 care are attending the rolling road, it will be �20 per car, if less than 20 attend it will be �25.

The window stickers have now arrived (thanks binliner) You can obtain one by sending �1 along with a stamped self addressed envelope to my address (PM for details) This is just to cover my costs of labour and materials. These stickers are designed for your rear quarter panel window.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND LOOSE CHANGE

I had an envelope this morning to which the money had been stolen! please secure it to some card or send a cheque instead.

The above image shows the style of the stickers. The new stickers are better than the one's shown as they are a fraction bigger and the VR6 is now the same size as the rest of the sticker.

Rolling Road Trip Update

WE NEED MORE INTEREST

The Rolling Road trip to Stealth Racing will be held some time in February. There are a limited amount of spaces available as Stealth can only do about 25 cars in a day.

The costs really depends on how many people tune up, If more than 20 cars attend, then it will be �20 per power run, if less than 20 cars attend then it will be priced up at �25 per power run.
If you would like to attend then please Private Message me with the subject line of " I Want To Attend The Rolling Road Day", this way I can easily count how many people show interest.

I have now added a Downloads section to the website. Here you will be able to download sound and video clips that are associated with the Golf VR6 and the VR6 Engine. I will also add some of the guides as down-loadable PDF documents so you can keep a printer friendly hard copy of them. The section is open to members only It only takes a few moments to sign up with us, and remember, its FREE!

After speaking to Ian this morning/afternoon (unsure what time it was as I was flat out in bed still) we are now working in conjunction with each other. This should hopefully see a great improvements on what we both can offer to the VR6 Community.

I have finally had chance to clean my car and stick the VR6golf.co.uk window sticker in, The sticker shown in the below photo is the "etched glass effect" The stickers will be availble soon - please bare with us as final preperations are made - There will be a small charge to cover costs of me obtaining the stickers and posting them out, more details will be availble soon.

I've added a few articles in the Tech Info section of the site, these include the following;

We now have 36 Members, but only 11 member?s car in the gallery, If you would like to upload your car into the gallery, follow the below guide and show off your pride and joy!

To upload photo's of your car into the gallery, firstly you are required to signup.

* Once you have signed up & logged in, click the link to the Gallery.

* Click on 'Members Cars' & click on 'Create / Order My Albums'.

* Click 'New' on the 'Album Manager' Screen & type a name for your album, Click Apply Modifications'.

* Click 'Upload Picture' And Click Browse, Select the picture you wish to upload, and click the 'Upload Picture'.

That?s It!

Note: Each member has 10mb of space in the gallery, Please upload pictures with sizes of 640x480 resolution.

Sorry there have been no updates on the site as of late. Please understand, as this site is very new. And I have work commitments as well as maintaining another website i run, which is now in the stages of becoming an official site for the club (www.thesugarmill.co.uk) - I get my manifold in a few days so ill be starting to write a guide for that, and when i get a little time off work - work will press ahead with guides/tech info sections.. for now - please make use of the forums!

BMC CDA Fitting Guide
